Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
John 14:6

Jesus is the life. This statement reinforces our conviction that Jesus is alive. The first thing to reckon with concerning this description of Jesus is that He lives. It is impossible to call Him the life if he isn’t even alive. It gives us the confidence that the life we get in Christ is genuine. And the opposite of this Life is not death, because death could not even stand a chance against Him.

“And the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.”
Revelations 1:18 ESV

Jesus being The Life means if you invite Him into any dead situation, He is more than able to revive it. Jairus’ daughter died and Lazarus had been dead for three days, nevertheless, these things meant nothing to Jesus. When the One who is called “the resurrection and the life” steps into any situation, death must give way. Look, death couldn’t even hold Him down.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;
John 11:25 NIV

Jesus gives life

John 1:3, Colossians 1:16-17, and 1 Corinthians 8:6 tell us that all that was created was created through and by Jesus Christ. Look at the trees, the birds, the vast and mighty oceans. Look at the people around you. All of these would not have existed without Jesus. Jesus is the life because He is the source of all life. Life is not only created by Him, it is also sustained by Him.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12 NIV

In Jesus Christ, there is life, and that life is the light of men. If you watch the news frequently, you will understand that we live in a dark world. Since the days of Cain and Abel, darkness has continued to thrive through wickedness, injustice, immorality, and other forms of evil. Jesus came to earth to bring a change. It shouldn’t surprise you that He frequently spoke of light (Jn. 3:19; Jn. 8:12). Even if man wanted to live in the light, it was very difficult and unnatural but when Jesus came, through His life, man received light. His life that we have now received has become our light, such that we no longer have to walk in darkness.

In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
John 1:4

True living is when you live in Christ and for Christ. The world gives us the illusion that parties, vacations, and money are life. But the thing with such ideas is that they leave you chasing after the next big thing. You are always searching for what is next, what is more exciting, and most times, it leaves you burned out and anxious. And when you can’t get those things, you feel empty.

The life Jesus gives is different. There is no next big thing to chase after and every new day spent with the Lord is refreshing and satisfying enough. He gives you those things which you really need for an enjoyable life; peace and joy.

Apostle Paul made a bold statement in Philippians 1:21. He said to live is Christ, and to die is gain (since he will be with Christ). He had experienced Jesus as life and couldn’t find any other place he would rather be.

For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.
Philippians 1:21 NLT

Eternal life in Christ

The concept of eternal life doesn’t mean that we would never die. Unfortunately, death is still a phenomenon that everyone must face, except rapture intercepts the process. Death is however not the end of the story. It’s either it ends as eternal death or eternal life. In Jesus Christ, we have an assurance of the latter. Jesus Himself says in John 6:48 that He is the bread of life, and, in verse 58, He says whoever eats this bread (referring to Himself) will live forever

The scripture tells us that the wages of sin is death. This could sometimes mean physical death, but it is always spiritual death. We were once dead in sin, therefore dead spiritually and fated for eternal death. But when Jesus gave Himself as the perfect atoning sacrifice we needed, we were made alive and granted access to eternal life (Heb. 10:12; Jn. 3:16; Jn. 10:28)

Jesus’ description of Himself as the life calls our attention to the fact that He alone gives life. There is life in no other person. Many have eaten other breads and still died but Jesus remains the bread that gives life forever.

And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
1 John 5:11

The free gift of God to all of mankind is eternal life but you cannot speak of eternal life without speaking of Jesus. If you desire to see the Father, there is only one access point, and that is Jesus Christ.

One response to “The Life ”

Jesus is the source of Abundant life. He said he has not just come to just give us life but to give it to us in abundance. This abundant life is not only a spiritual life. It also encompasses our physical, emotional as well as our relational wellbeing.

The life has the ability to transform us once we choose to accept him. In him was life and the life was the light of all men. The moment we accept this life, he brings us out of darkness (old things which are passed away) into his Marvellous light (the new life, the God-life)

The choice of accepting this life Jesus is offering is ours to make. God is a respecter of free will and no matter how good something is or might be, he wouldn’t impose it on anybody. That’s why he said I’ve placed before you life and death. Despite the fact that he respects our free will, he still loves us so much that he begged us to choose life that we may live.

So even in our free will, he doesn’t want us to make that mistake of not choosing life. Because he knows that with life comes hope, with life comes strength, with life comes every good thing we can think of. And accepting that life is the best decision any individual can ever make in their lives.

So if you read this blogpost up until this comment and you haven’t accepted this life Christ is offering, I think this is the best time for you to make the best decision ever. The best time for you to accept the life-giving life. Accept the life today, and I promise you, you would never regret it.

Congratulations to everyone of us that have accepted and would accept this life.

Thank you for this wonderful piece!!!
