When God was creating the world, He made multiple things in one day—light and darkness, land and sea, plants and animals. But when it came to creating man, He dedicated an entire day. Not because it was a complex task, but because it was worth His full attention and care.

This blog post is a reminder: whenever you feel less than, unloved, or worthless, remember this; you are God’s prized possession. You are His creation of immeasurable value.

In Romans 8:32, the Apostle Paul writes:
“He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?”

The greatest proof of God’s love is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. God gave His only begotten Son to redeem people who were deep in sin. He didn’t need to, but He did it anyway. Yes, you are that dear to Him. If He gave you Christ, what more would He withhold from you?

This same truth is echoed by Jesus in Matthew 6:26–30, where He says:

“Look at the birds of the air… they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?… If God clothes the grass of the field…will He not much more clothe you?”

Even birds and flowers, though not nearly as valuable as you, receive God’s care and attention. How much more, then, will He care for you—His beloved child? Yes, angels, animals, and plants are all created beings. But only one creation bears the image of God. Only one creation has a covenant relationship with Him. Only one is called heir to His kingdom. Only one was redeemed by the blood of Christ. And that is mankind—you.

The world will try to sell you narratives that you need to do a certain thing or look a certain way or belong to a certain group to have any value. But God thinks otherwise. He made you from dust and breathed His precious breath into you. Moreover, in … He says that He has called you by name. The gift of salvation made available to all men is God’s way of calling each of us back to Him. It’s unsafe for a sheep to be outside of the shepherd’s care. It could be easily torn to pieces by wolves. Salvation is the rod and staff that gently guides us back into God’s loving care. And He made that readily available for you and I.

Now that you know you are God’s prized possession, what should you do with this truth?

First, throw off the weight of insecurity. I believe this is what made John the Beloved such a secure and confident disciple. Of all the disciples, he consistently referred to himself as “the one Jesus loved.” He knew his identity. His confidence in Jesus was rooted in the certainty of being deeply loved.
Many believers fall into sin or give up on their faith because they don’t realize how precious they are to God. But the moment you begin to see yourself through the lens of God’s love, everything changes. You become secure, knowing that His love is all you need.

A good parallel is when Paul talks about the temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16–17). He urges believers to wake up to the reality of who they are—God’s dwelling place. Only then can they begin to live the honorable lives they were called to live.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

The next step after realizing you’re God’s special possession is this: declare His praises. That means proclaiming His goodness, telling of His wonders, and reflecting His light. Paul understood this. After he encountered the love of Jesus, he didn’t stay silent. He did a complete (and much-needed) 180 and dedicated his life to telling others about Jesus. He immediately began to tell of the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light (1 Pet. 2:9 AMP)
