May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13

When you live in ignorance, you live in darkness. The sole weakness of man is cluelessness. Clueless as to whether this new job is good for you, clueless of what your significant other is doing at the moment, clueless of your very tomorrow. And the devil has taken this as a leverage. He is on a mission to keep the children of God clueless, ignorant of what they should know. He wants to cheat the believers of knowledge, keep them uninformed and ridicule them. In Hosea 4:6 God says “my people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge”. But don’t worry too much because you are about to be informed. Here are 6 things God doesn’t want you be ignorant of as a believer.

Your power as a believer. Many, if not all of us have heard of Elijah, Elisha, Peter, Paul and the list could go on. These were powerful men of God. They performed jaw-dropping miracles and some even brought the dead back to life. Such great power they had, right? But what if I tell you today that that power to do exploits and heal the sick and raise the dead, lives inside of you. Yes, some people are specially gifted to pray for the sick and they get healed but that is also a privilege that every believer has (James 5:15; Mark 16:17-18; John14:12). The devil does not want you to know this because he knows that the moment you are aware, it becomes “end-game” to all his life wasting sicknesses. You hold the power that resurrected Jesus Christ from the dead in you. You are not meant to dread in front of witches and wizards and principalities and powers. Greater is He who lives in you, than he that is in the world!

Your position as a believer. Ephesians 2:6 lets us know that we are seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. Just in case you do not understand that, let me give you a break-down of what it means. As a believer, you no longer hold a common status as any other creature of God. You have now been renamed as a child of God. That you are seated in heavenly places with Jesus means you are far above the worries of this life. When the devil tries to throw jabs at you of how miserable life is or how there are too many problems in this world, trying to pollute your mind with depressing thoughts, remind yourself that you are seated in heavenly places, far above life’s issues. Also, that you are a child of God means more than just that. You are God’s beloved, God’s own. You should not let the enemy brainwash you into believing otherwise or anything less than that. You should not let the devil and his cohorts walk all over you. You have changed position now. You are no longer a child of the world. You are now God’s heir so act as one!

What is expected of you as a believer? God expects His children to be holy because He is holy. It is not enough to confess Jesus as Savior. You also have to live a life worthy of Him. As a believer, you are expected to live righteously because you have been called to live a life of holiness (uncommonness in respect to the world) Ephesians 4:1 AMP. Alongside being righteous, we are expected to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-13). The same way a warrior cannot go to the battle field with a helmet but no shield, so also, we cannot put on faith without righteousness. While being completely dressed in the armor of God, be vigilant. Many Christians have found themselves in the trap of the enemy today not because of unpreparedness but because of non-vigilance.

Your role as a believer. Every believer is a Steward of Christ. We are called to a life of service to Jesus. In Mark 16:15, Jesus instructs us to go into the world and preach the gospel. It is an obligation for every of The Lord’s children. The devil uses our ignorance on this matter to keep other people ignorant of what Christ has done for them. Many souls are endangered because only a few believers are aware of their role as trustees of God’s message of love, let alone actually spreading the message. It is not only pastors or bishops or priests that have this responsibility on them. The more believers are aware of the important role they play in the salvation of many, the more people would be saved.

The final destination. I would not want to say many believers are unaware of this. Rather, I’d say many have forgotten. So many of us are now so carried away with the issues of life such that we forget that we are only here a short while. We struggle so much to make it here forgetting we have to make it there. The final destination, the ultimate goal is heaven. It is not enough to know this but also to have it at the back of our minds at all times. Having it at the back of our minds would serve as a constant reminder that we have to live our lives here to please God in order to make it to the other side.

Finally, God doesn’t want you to be ignorant of His love for you. And I’m not just talking of the John 3:16 type of love we all know. I’m talking of the one even I just discovered. The bible says in John 17:23I in them and You in Me that they may be perfected and completed into one, so that the world may know that you sent Me and that You have loved them, just as You have loved Me”. These are the words of Jesus. Jesus said God does not love Him more than you, rather He loves you just as equally as He loves Him! Now, if God does not love Jesus Christ more than you, do you really think He could love your Pastor or any other human being more than you? God wants us to do away with the false notion that He loves some people more than some others. When you remember this always, there is nothing the enemy throws at you that would move you because you know without any doubt that you’re God’s beloved.

However, we can never be fully informed neither can we break the chain of ignorance if we don’t pick up our Bible to study. It is our manual and survival book as believers. A student that doesn’t read would only end up failing. Operating a machine without reading its instruction book can be dangerous. Likewise, we should take the study of the Bible seriously. The bible is not just an instruction book but also, the voice of God. Joshua 1:8 says “this book of the Law shall not depart out thy mouth, but you shall read and meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous and then you will be successful”.
